Her passion for sports was born as a kid. Gerina started playing golf when she was fifteen. Gerina attended Goddard High School. In high school she won New Mexico's state golf championship. She also had her volleyball skills acknowledged at the national level. Her first college was the University of Texas. Her senior year was a success. she took home the top prize in every single tournament that she participated. Through her college years, she received an award called the Conference USA Player of The Year Award as well as the UTEP Female Sports Athletics Award.
